Individual Counseling
Personalized Support for Your Recovery

Each individual's path to recovery is unique. We provide personalized support and guidance through weekly or biweekly individual counseling sessions that focus on your continued recovery from alcohol and substance abuse.
Developing a Working Understanding of the 12 Steps
During these one-on-one sessions, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with a dedicated counselor to develop a deep understanding of the 12 Steps and how they apply to your life. The 12 Steps have been a cornerstone of addiction recovery for decades, providing a framework for personal growth, self-reflection, and spiritual development.
Your counselor will guide you through each step, helping you explore the underlying issues that may have contributed to your addiction and develop strategies for addressing them. By gaining a working understanding of the 12 Steps, you'll be better equipped to navigate the challenges of early recovery and build a strong foundation for long-term sobriety.
Tools for Daily Struggles in Early Recovery
Recovery is challenging, and our individual counseling sessions are designed to provide you with the tools and support you need to overcome the daily struggles of early recovery. Your counselor will work with you to identify potential triggers and develop resilience in the face of adversity.
Through these sessions, you'll learn valuable skills such as stress management, effective communication, and problem-solving. You'll also have the opportunity to process your experiences, emotions, and challenges in a safe, confidential environment, receiving guidance and encouragement from a trained professional.
Relearning Life Skills and Building Positive Relationships
Addiction can take a toll on every aspect of your life, and long-term success in recovery often involves relearning essential life skills and building positive relationships. During your individual counseling sessions, your counselor will help you navigate the process of:
- Building fellowship in a 12 Step community
- Returning to work or finding new employment
- Pursuing education or training opportunities
- Strengthening family relationships and communication
- Socializing and building new, healthy friendships
- Developing hobbies and leisure activities
By addressing these key areas, our Tempe and Safford treatment centers aim to help you build a fulfilling and well-rounded life in recovery. Your counselor will provide guidance and support as you relearn how to engage with the world around you, fostering a sense of purpose, belonging, and personal growth.
Addressing Fear and Potential Sabotages
Fear and self-sabotage are common challenges faced by individuals in recovery. During your individual counseling sessions, your counselor will help you identify and address the underlying issues that may be holding you back or putting your sobriety at risk.
You'll learn to recognize patterns of negative self-talk, limiting beliefs, and self-defeating behaviors, and develop strategies for overcoming them. Your counselor will help you build self-awareness, self-compassion, and a more positive, resilient mindset, empowering you to face challenges with confidence and grace.
